Why an International Driving Permit (IDP)
An International Driving Permit (IDP) enables you to drive comfortably abroad with your own valid driver’s license. Car rental companies and traffic authorities often request this document when you are driving overseas with a foreign license.
The IDP serves as a translation of your national driver’s license into multiple languages, making it understandable to authorities in your destination country. It is specifically designed for simplicity and clarity for both English speakers and non-English speakers. Importantly, the IDP is not a substitute for your driver’s license nor does it serve as an official identification document.
The format of the IDP adheres to the standards of the Geneva Convention on Road Traffic of 1949 and is recognized in over 150 countries. In some cases, an IDP is not required if the destination country recognizes your national driver’s license. It is advisable to verify this with the traffic authorities of the country you are traveling to.

You can save the PDF version of IDP to your phone, laptop or tablet. It will be delivered as soon as possible once your request has been approved via the email address you provided.
Some countries in the world do not accept a digital IDP booklet, especially the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Saudi Arabia. Be sure to check if your destination country accepts an IDP digital version before placing your order. The best option is to have your actual printed IDP booklet with your original driver’s license.
