Why an International Driving Permit (IDP)?

An International Driving Permit (IDP) serves as a translation of your national driver’s license, making it easier to drive legally in foreign countries. It includes multiple languages to clearly indicate which types of vehicles you’re licensed to operate. In many places, an IDP is mandatory for renting a car, motorbike, or other motor vehicles. It can also be useful for identification or when dealing with local authorities.
Recognized in over 180 countries, the IDP displays your personal details, photograph, and driving credentials in the 12 most widely spoken languages. This makes it accessible and easy to understand for traffic officials and law enforcement across the globe.
Holding an International Driving Permit does not replace the need to carry your valid national driver’s license and passport while driving in another country. You may not legally drive with just an IDP—it must always be accompanied by your original driver’s license and passport. Applicants must be at least 18 years old to qualify for an IDP. The application process is quick and easy, typically taking only a few minutes to complete online.

IDP booklet (printed)
The International Driving Permit booklet is created using the details from your driver’s license, which you submit during the online application. You can choose a validity period of up to 3 years. Once printed, the IDP will be shipped directly to your address. Delivery time varies based on your chosen shipping option and location, usually between 5 to 10 business days. The booklet contains 16 pages, including:

You can store the digital copy on your smartphone, laptop, or tablet. Once your application is approved, the PDF will be sent promptly to the email address you provided.
Please note that not all countries recognize a digital version of the IDP. For example, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Saudi Arabia typically require a physical booklet. Before ordering, it’s important to confirm whether your destination country accepts a digital IDP. To avoid any issues, it’s strongly recommended to carry the printed IDP along with your valid national driver’s license.
