If you plan to drive in countries like Belarus, it is essential to be familiar with the “Belarusian Driving Rules” to avoid any issues. Some regulations might be unfamiliar to you. It is never pleasant to be stopped by traffic police in Belarus, and showing your driver’s license is crucial in such cases. If you have an International Driving Permit (IDP), it will be translated to enable verification. Usually, it is translated into English if you have a different native language, but it is especially important to have a valid driver’s license.
The International Driving Permit is established in the convention on road traffic and includes over 150 countries, including the Republic of Belarus. Depending on your country of origin, obtaining a green card with your International Driving Permit can be straightforward. The police in Belarus may not be as lenient as those in other countries, but they understand the rules regarding foreign drivers.
