The prices for obtaining an International Driving Permit (IDP) in Azerbaijan start at $20. An IDP is recommended when you want to drive a vehicle rented abroad, in addition to your regular driver’s license. The IDP translates your national driver’s license into 12 languages, which can be useful during traffic stops abroad.
However, the IDP does not protect against traffic violations, such as not wearing a seat belt, driving under the influence, or speeding, which can result in fines.

In Azerbaijan, you must be at least 18 years old to hold a valid driver’s license. Even if you obtained your driver’s license earlier, you may only drive a car after reaching the age of 18.
